Here we are, in the North Yorkshire Moors near Osmotherley, the home town of Isla. Having arrived late last night, we pulled over in a little inlet of the road which we later find is a popular parking spot for morning walkers. We'll be going into meet Isla and Al soon.
Although we hadn't planned to, we stayed another night in St Austell. It just worked out best that way. Jack needed to do a heap of work and the caravan park's "Internet room" was perfect. Also, I needed to go shopping to buy a dress and things for the wedding.
As we both had so much to do, that meant I had to drive to the next town by myself. This concerned me because as I have been navigating these UK roads while Jack eagerly did the driving. I know how tricky navigating the rods can be, so driving AND navigating was a bit scary as I didn't want to get lost in a strange land. But I made it fine to Tuto and successfully went shopping.
From St Austell, we did a long-haul drive from Cornwall to North Yorkshire. The route we took accidently went passed Stone Henge. We slowed down, had a look, saw the MANY tourists also looking, and then drove on. The whole day was basically taken up with driving. We stopped at a pub/bistro thing in Nottingham for a very filling dinner and then continued passed Sherwood Forest and about an hour or so later were near Osmotherley.
Jack had been for a run across the Moors and taken some nice photographs of the area - best way to become acquainted with one's surroundings, especially when the surroundings are amazingly beautiful and the weather is perfect. Again we were surprised by the welcoming generosity displayed by the locals who Jack had met while running - seeing us camping in our van, the two girls offered their nearby farm as a place to stay if we wanted. Nice offer however we declined as we were off to meet the our friends and go on a touristy adventure of York.
