We’re in Montevideo and I am now a year older. Yesterday was my birthday. It was a day with a lazy start, an indulgent breakfast of a mini birthday cake we bought at the supermarket bakery – eaten on the balcony in the sun of course– and a generally lazy day consisting of a long siesta and a dinner out at a restaurant on the fore-shore....

An odd thought for most of you, joining a gym while on “holidays”. Well, Jack and I have been feeling the effects of not exercising much during our stay and travels in Argentina and after Keith informed us of a gym just up the road from the apartment we finally joined – especially since our make-shift gym of the play equipment of the local park was being overrun by kids on school holidays. ...

Well, we’re set up for our next move (in a few days). We are going for a mini road trip around Uruguay first (about a week) then we jump on a plane over to Brazil to continue road tripping (for another month). Our Portuguese is so-so, but hopefully it’ll be enough for a start....

Awe, Uruguay is so small compared to our Argentina road trip. We got all the way to the east coast in about 3 hours, an easy drive. We camped in <National Park> for a couple of nights, going down to different beaches each day. It was quite a well set up national park, except that it wasn’t high camping season so all but one toilet block was open, which was annoying when I was really needing one....

Well, we’re back in Montevideo again. We decided to come back into the city for our last night as there wasn’t much out in the middle of Uruguay for us – except this one little town we found that had a mini fun fair going....
